Another New Year and Nothing Has Changed (So Far)...

Like a sleeping baby, Alliance Metals looks harmless and innocent when it's closed. But the reality is that this business has been conducting its operations in a manner that is detrimental to the neighborhood (and to its drug addicted customers as well...using, some have said, a "Plantation-like" model of business). For years the community has complained. Jay Anast (the owner) has done little if nothing to make changes...providing merely lip service...and using the poor, down-and-out as an excuse to pose as a faux Mother Theresa but more so to protect his profits. His sad, irresponsible and absentee style of doing business has been documented in this and other blogs for years. One small light of hope, there is a hearing coming up, spearheaded by both the Police and Nuisance Abatement departments, to wit the City of Oakland also recognizes that Alliance is a negative and insidious element of Dogtown. To keep abreast of this (albeit slow moving) development you can, you can email: ABetterAlliance@yahoo.com
